Painting of a baby This wonderful piece comes out of a close personal friend of Chuck's. Chuck painted this piece for the family years back and they used it throughout the years as a fun holiday and personal announcement board. It's fascinating to see those great Chuck Jones animation style traits come through in this piece, particularly notable in the face, eyes, hair and skin tones of the baby. The piece is quite striking at 36" x 39". We love the charming story behind this piece and believe it would make a great addition to any Chuck Jones Collector's portfolio. The dedication is written in green marker at the bottom right and faintly reads: "For Lucille- From her great admirer with love (lots) from Chuck Jones 1954". This piece does apply for free designer's discretion molding or the equivalent. As the family who owned this piece used it as a fun board, there are several areas that have tiny pin holes such as the back, shoulders, and hand. Master background of Sylvester the Cat The cel is a re-created, hand painted cel, which is key to the scene. It was painted by Darrel Van Citters, director of "Pullet Surprise" (1997), the last Looney Tunes short released by Chuck Jones productions. In this short, Maurice Noble designed the background layouts and Philip DeGuard painted the backgrounds. In the short, Porky and his pet cat, Sylvester, check in to a deserted hotel full of killer mice, which Porky refuses to believe until it's almost too late! There is a slight amount of faint smudging on the surface of the background where the character once was, which is visible only upon close examination.
